You’ll Be Tempted to Install Linux. DON’T

One of the biggest thing’s, that I know you’re going to worry over, is whether or not to use Windows or Linux.

On the one hand, you know Windows and that is reason to both leave it behind and to stay with it. Meanwhile, Linux is kinda cool.. bit sexy.. you”re wanting to get into this thing. Isn’t this what the guys that know what they’re doing are using?

Yes. Which is why you shouldn’t use it. The guys that “know” how to use it, know what they’re doing.

Ubuntu (which is what you would actually use) is an impressive operating system and, yes, will keep you enthralled in learning all the things you didn’t know. And that’s a problem. Time. Do you really have the time to sit down and deal with stuff that you haven’t been trained on? Things that guys go to University and get computer science degrees can understand?

Here’s the biggest issue: You want to get your stuff up and running. Ubuntu will bog you down with:
Dependency issues
Weird bugs
New commands
Entirely different file structure
Entirely new concepts
And did I mention the dependency issues?

*** ALSO *** Ubuntu does not just install your NVIDIA CUDA software like Windows does. You have to do it all yourself and very likely, you leave things out. Windows does it all.

If you want to use Ubuntu Linux (and you should learn some basics) then hang in for another post where I’m going to introduce you to the WLS (Windows Linux System)
